St. John’s to Host UConn for First Women’s College Basketball Game at UBS Arena

Red Storm to battle BIG EAST foe Huskies on Jan. 11 in Elmont, N.Y.
QUEENS, N.Y. – The St. John's women's basketball team will host the first-ever women's college basketball game at UBS Arena when the Red Storm welcomes BIG EAST foe UConn on Jan. 11. Tip-off is scheduled for 8 p.m. inside UBS Arena at Belmont Park.
Venue and school presale tickets will be available on Thursday, October 20 at 10 a.m. St. John's presale opportunity is available to basketball season ticket holders and Red White Club members who will be notified via email with additional details. Tickets will be available to the general public beginning Friday, October 21 at 10 a.m.
St. John's home meeting with the Huskies will be the program's first home game taking place outside the friendly confines of Carnesecca Arena since the 2018-19 campaign. That season, the Red Storm welcomed DePaul to Madison Square Garden for a conference affair.
The Johnnies welcome back seven players from last year's squad including All-Met selection Kadaja Bailey. Head Coach Joe Tartamella returns for his 11th season at the helm of the Red Storm. Last year, Tartamella became the program's winningest head coach in program history and enters the 2022-23 campaign with 182 career victories.
