QUEENS, N.Y. – The St. John's men's basketball team will play its second and final preseason exhibition on Saturday night when it welcomes Southern New Hamphshire University to Carnesecca Arena.
Tip-off is set for 6 p.m. on ESPN3 with Ralph Bednarczyk and Tarik Turner on the call from Queens.
The Red Storm rolled to a 30-point victory, 85-55, in its exhibition opener on Wednesday night against another Divisoin II NE10 school, Adelphi. Six Johnnies finished that game in double figures, led by freshman guard AJ Storr with 13 points on 5-of-9 shooting. Joel Soriano, O'Mar Stanley and Andre Curbelo tallied 12 points apiece on a combined 18-of-23 shooting while David Jones and Montez Mathis each added 10 points. Preseason First Team All-BIG EAST selection Posh Alexander dished out 10 assists in the preseason victory.
The Penmen finished last season with an overall record of 13-11 in its fourth year under the direction of Jack Perri, a former Division I head coach at LIU Brooklyn. Perri turned in a pair of 20-win seasons and an NCAA Tournament appearance while leading the Blackbirds.
After taking on the Red Storm, SNHU will also play an exhibition at Syracuse on Nov. 1.
The Johnnies will begin the 2022-23 regular season on Nov. 7 when they welcome Merrimack to Carnesecca Arena for a 6:45 p.m. tip. Single-game and season tickets are on sale now and can be purchased by calling 1-888-GO-STORM or visiting RedStormTix.com.
