NEW YORK- St. John's women's basketball shooting guard Jayla Everett earned BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll recognition, the conference office announced Monday.
In her last outing, Everett set a new season-high for the second consecutive game, going off for 24 points in the historic win over Wagner that bounced No. 25 St. John's to a 12-0 start, the best in program history.
The St. Louis, Mo., native found the bottom of the bucket with ease during a dominant 81-50 victory over the Seahawks. Everett shot a perfect 7-for-7 from the free-throw line and recorded five boards during Wednesday's matinee.
The prolific scoring guard ranks ninth in the league heading into the break in scoring averaging 16.8 points per game. A capable shooter from deep, Everett checks in at third in the BIG EAST with 31 made three-pointers, shooting at a 42.5 percent clip from deep.
The honor for the conference marks the guard's third of the year and second in as many weeks. Everett has also garnered multiple All-Met Honorable Mention nods this year.
The Red Storm resume an undefeated campaign on New Year's Eve in Washington D.C. against Georgetown.
