St. John’s Women’s Basketball Ranked in Both National Polls

Red Storm remain at No. 25 in media poll, enter coaches’ poll at No. 24
QUEENS, N.Y.- The St. John's women's basketball team is ranked in both national polls this week after it entered the USA Today Coaches' Poll at No. 24,the organization announced Tuesday afternoon.
For the second week in a row, the Red Storm were ranked No. 25 in the Associated Press poll, it was released on Monday. The last time it was ranked back-to-back weeks was Feb. 10 and Feb. 17 in 2014.
This marks the first time since Dec. 15, 2014 the Red Storm have earned a spot in both national polls.
After receiving votes for the last three weeks, St. John's jumps into the coaches' poll rankings. The last time the Johnnies were included was after their 2016 BIG EAST Tournament title.
This marks the eighth time under Head Coach Joe Tartamella St. John's has been included in the coaches' poll and the sixth-time during his tenure where his squad was included in both rankings simultaneously.
In its last contest, St. John's a made history by notching the best start in program history, after the Red Storm moved to 12-0 with a convincing 80-51 victory over Wagner on Dec. 21.
Newcomer Jayla Everett has led the charge averaging a team-best 16.8 points per game. The shooting guard has been named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll and twice earned All-MET Honorable Mention recognition.
The Red Storm will look to continue its strong start when it heads to the nation's capital to face Georgetown on Dec. 31 at noon.
