St. John’s Athletics Promotes Alex Tannous to Director of Marketing & Promotions

Former Red Storm student-athlete elevated to new role after nearly three years as an assistant in the Student Development for Athletes Office
QUEENS, N.Y. – The St. John's Athletic Department announced on Monday the promotion of Alex Tannous to the position of Director of Marketing and Promotions. The former Red Storm student-athlete has spent the past three years as an assistant in the University's Student Development for Athletes Office.
In her new role at St. John's, Tannous will be responsible for managing marketing and fan engagement efforts of the Red Storm's 17 Division I athletic programs. As the Director of Marketing and Promotions, she will be involved in leading game productions, executing promotional and advertising campaigns, overseeing sponsorship activation and supporting additional revenue generating initiatives.
Previously as a member of the Student Development for Athletes staff, Tannous served as a liaison with student-athletes, coaches and administrative offices across campus to support the day-to-day operations of the office. Tannous was involved in the coordination of special events, such as the annual Athletics Awards Banquet, Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony, Student-Athlete Orientation and Career Night, as well as various community service initiatives. Additionally, she was responsible for the office's promotional efforts and helped managed the Student Development for Athletes' social media platforms.
Tannous also has experience serving as interim equipment operations administrator at St. John's. She was involved in coordinating apparel and equipment needs for Red Storm teams during the 2020-21 academic year.
Before returning to St. John's, Tannous served as an assistant athletic director and biology teacher at the Knox School in St. James, N.Y., where she coordinated practice, scheduling and team travel for 17 varsity and junior varsity teams.
Tannous, a four-year letterwinner on the Red Storm's women's fencing team, earned her bachelor's degree from St. John's in 2014 with a dual major in biology and psychology. A former graduate assistant in the Student Development for Athletes Office, Tannous received a master's degree in sport management in 2016 and is scheduled to earn a master's degree in business administration from St. John's this May.
