St. John’s Student-Athletes Shine in the Classroom in 2025-26

Red Storm student-athletes earned a 3.60 GPA during the 2025-26 academic year
QUEENS, N.Y. – The St. John's Athletic Department enjoyed another successful year in the classroom as the student-athlete population earned a 3.60 GPA during the 2025-26 academic year.
All 17 of the Red Storm's varsity athletic programs recorded a GPA of over 3.0 including 14 teams logging a 3.5 or higher. Six programs- women's fencing, men's golf, women's golf, women's tennis, women's soccer and volleyball finished the academic year with a cumulative team GPA of over 3.7.
71 percent of St. John's student-athlete population exceeded a 3.5 during this past academic year, including 111 Johnnies that posted a 4.0 during either the fall or spring term. Nearly 90 percent of the group achieved above a 3.0 as St. John's student-athletes continue to achieve impressive marks in the classroom.
91 student-athletes and members of the Red Storm's spirit teams graduated on the Great Lawn last month and will go onto enter the workforce or continue education.
Three members of the department- Ava Mabry-Spencer (Track & Field), Madison Persischetti (Dance) and Rosalina DiMonaco (Dance) were selected for the President's Society, the University's highest honor society. Additionally, 33 student-athletes were inducted into the Chi Alpha Sigma Honor Society, a national organization that honors students for their performances on and off the field of competition.
17 student-athletes from six different programs were named College Sports Communicators Academic All-District honorees. At least three went on to achieve Academic All-America status in Zuby Ejiofor (Men's Basketball), Bryce Hopkins (Men's Basketball) and Bjorn Nikolajewski (Men's Soccer).
Five student-athletes from three different programs- Ejiofor (Men's Basketball), Erin Jones (Volleyball), Sadiku Ibine Ayo (Men's Basketball), Lefteris Liotopoulos (Men's Basketball) and Juliet Smith (Track & Field) were tabbed Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports Scholars. Ejiofor was named the Male Sports Scholar of the Year.
In the community, the Red Storm Athletic Department recorded 2,119 hours of community service, spearheaded by the track and field program that logged over 572 hours.
