Women’s Golf Completes BIG EAST Championship

Jessie Kweon came in sixth at the conference event
PINE MOUNTAIN, Ga.– The St. John's women's golf team completed the BIG EAST Championship at the Mountain View Course at Callaway Gardens on Saturday. The Red Storm placed sixth as the squad finished with a combined 309 for the final round and 925 for the tournament.
Xavier won its third-straight BIG EAST title as the team closed out the final round with a 296 to post an 878 for the championship. Georgetown came away as the runners up at the event, shooting a 301 in the final round and recording an 892 for the event. Seton Hall claimed third place, finishing 10 strokes behind the Hoyas with a 902 for the 56-hole event.
Jessie Kweon posted a top-10 finish at the conference championship, finishing in sixth when she signed off on a 3-over par 75 in the final round. The senior closed out the tournament with 10 birdies and a three-round total of 219.
Rookie Karen Beglin recorded a 76, her best round of the event. The freshman's 232 for the tournament locks the Carson City, Nev., native in a tie for 19th. Coming into the clubhouse four strokes behind Beglin and tied for 24th place was Andrea Sanchez as the graduate student carded a 78 for a combined 236 for the tournament.
Cloe Clocchiatti logged three birdies and an 80 in the final round for a 56-hole total of 240. The mark put the junior is 28th at the event. Rounding out the Red Storm squad was Angelica Kusnowo, who came into the clubhouse with an 85 for the day and a total of 251 to place 30th.
Xavier's Abby Kiefer, Emma McMyler and Creighton's Katherine Lemke, all signed off on a score of 213 (-3). Lemke won the playoff to take the individual medalist honors.
