Knapp Checks in at No. 55 on Preseason Top 100

QUEENS, N.Y. – For the second time in as many days, a St. John's player has earned an individual accolade from TopDrawerSoccer, as Brandon Knapp checked in at no. 55 on the Preseason Top 100.
Entering his fifth year with the Red Storm in 2022, Knapp is one of only nine players in program history to earn three or more All-BIG EAST selections over the course of his career.
The Abingdon, Md., native is coming off a First Team All-BIG EAST nod in 2021 after leading the Red Storm with five goals and six assists for 16 points, helping the Johnnies finish third in the league and reach the second round of the NCAA Tournament. Also an anchor on the defensive end of the pitch, Knapp helped the Red Storm lead the nation in shutout percentage (0.60) and rank fifth in team goals against average (0.63).
Knapp earned Third Team All-BIG EAST honors following both his sophomore and junior seasons. As a sophomore in 2019, Knapp scored four goals for a St. John's team that rose as high as no. 4 in the United Soccer Coaches poll and reached the NCAA Tournament Round of 16 for the first time since 2008.
Knapp and the Red Storm will open the 2022 season on Thursday night when they travel to West Long Branch, N.J., for a 7 p.m. showdown against Monmouth. The Johnnies will begin the home portion of their schedule on Monday, Aug. 29, against No. 18 Florida International at Belson Stadium.
