St. John’s to Welcome DePaul and RV Marquette to Queens

The Johnnies are off to their best start in conference play since 2008
QUEENS, N.Y. – After three matches on the road, the St. John's volleyball team will return home to host DePaul and RV Marquette on Friday and Saturday.
On Friday, the Red Storm will battle DePaul at 7 p.m. inside Carnesecca Arena. The squad will then stay in Queens on Saturday to take on Marquette at 5 p.m. Both matches will be broadcast on ESPN+ with live stats available at RedStormSports.com.
St. John's will take on DePaul for the 29th time in program history when they face each other on Friday night. The Red Storm lead the all-time series 20-8, which includes a 10-3 record in Carnesecca Arena. Their last meeting was on Oct. 21, 2022, when St. John's swept the Blue Demons in straight sets at McGrath-Phillips Arena. Wiktoria Kowalczyk racked up a match-high 32 assists. The program also took down DePaul in straight sets in Queens, earlier in the 2022 season.
Saturday's contest against Marquette will mark the 30th in the all-time series. The Golden Eagles currently hold a 23-6 all-time advantage over the Johnnies and a 10-3 record at Carnesecca Arena. In their last meeting on Oct. 22, 2022, at the Al McGuire Center, Marquette dropped the Johnnies in straight sets. Rachele Rastelli posted a match-high 15 kills for St. John's. Marquette swept the Red Storm in their first meeting at Carnesecca Arena in 2022.
The Johnnies come back home after a perfect weekend where they swept both Xavier and Butler in straight sets on the road. The Red Storm now boast a 5-1 conference mark, the best BIG EAST start for the program since 2008. St. John's only lost two conference matches that year, en route to its third straight regular season BIG EAST Title. The Johnnies have earned four BIG EAST sweeps, out of their five wins.
After a stellar weekend of play, Rashanny Solano Smith received her second BIG EAST Freshman of the Week nod. The Limon, Costa Rica native racked up 37 digs, 24 of which came against Butler, to average a conference-best 6.16 digs per set. The freshman leads her team with 262 digs at 3.97 per set, which ranks fifth in the conference. Her 5.37 digs per set in BIG EAST matches rank second in the conference.
Erin Jones had a successful weekend against Butler and Xavier, recording 18 kills, 25 assists, 12 digs and four blocks across. She produced her sixth double-double of the year, consisting of 12 assists and 11 kills against Butler. Lucrezia Lodi also completed her second double-double of the season against Butler, recording 13 digs and 12 kills.
DePaul has earned a 3-3 BIG EAST record and a 10-7 overall record, after falling to Marquette and No. 15 Creighton in straight sets last weekend. Jill Pressly and Rachel Krasowski pace the conference in kills and digs. Pressly has registered 258 kills, averaging 4.45 per set to go along with 171 digs, 27 blocks and nine aces. Krasowski has accumulated a conference-best 302 digs at 5.21 per set.
