Jessica Garziano and Katherine Turner Named to BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll

Both players played integral role in the playoff-clinching win over Marquette
NEW YORK- St. John's women's soccer standouts Jessica Garziano and Katherine Turner were named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll, the conference office announced on Monday.
Both captains played an integral role in leading the Red Storm to a playoff-clinching 3-0 victory on Sunday afternoon at Marquette.
Garziano recorded a pair of assists in Sunday's convincing victory at Valley Fieds. The attacking midfielder provided the second assist on Jailene DeJesus' goal in the 7th minute and sent a through-ball that led to Ava Collins' finish in the second half.
The graduate student with her second of the day tied the single-season record for assists with her 11th. She joins Jenifer Contesini (1996), Jamie Clark (2000) and Kaitlin Schmidt (2003) as the only players in program history to reach that mark.
The Long Island native leads the league in points (27) and assists (11). Her helper mark ranks sixth in the country. Among active career leaders, Garziano checks in at fourth in NCAA Division I with 33 over her tenure in Queens.
Turner continues to be a reliable anchor for the Johnnies defensive unit at center back. Yesterday, the graduate student led a backline that registered its sixth shutout of the yuear and held the Golden Eagles to just one shot on target.
The London, England native has started all 88 contests for the Red Storm defense during her illustrious career with the Johnnies.
Both players are no stranger to recognition from the conference. Turner was named the league's defensive player of the week on Oct. 2 and Garziano was tabbed the offensive player of the week on Oct. 18.
The Red Storm will close out the regular season on Thursday night when it welcomes DePaul for a 7 p.m. showdown at Belson Stadium.
