Jessica Garziano Named College Sports Communicators First Team Academic All-American

Garziano was named a United Soccer Coaches Second Team All-American on Dec. 1
QUEENS, N.Y.– St. John's women's soccer standout Jessica Garziano added to her lengthy list of accolades on Wednesday being named a College Sports Communicators, formerly known as CoSIDA, First Team Academic All-American.
Garziano was one of 11 players selected to the organization's first team for exemplary performance on the pitch and in the classroom. She joins Georgetown's Julia Leas on the first team as the only BIG EAST players to be named an Academic All-American.
The midfielder becomes just the second player in program history to ever be named a CSC First Team All-American, joining Zsani Kajan, earned the distinct honor following the spring 2021 season. Overall, she becomes the seventh player to garner this prestigious honor.
In the classroom, Garziano logged an impressive 3.87 GPA while working towards a graduate degree in applied math.
On the field, Garziano made the Johnnies go during the 2023 season scoring or assisting on 21 of the team's 33 goals (63.6 percent). The Melville, N.Y., native finished the year with 10 goals and 11 assists, the first player in program history and one of six in NCAA Division I totally double-digit goals and assists in a single-season.
The veteran tied the single-season program record with her 11 assists and become St. John's all-time career assist leader on Sept. 17 during a five-point outing in a win over Harvard.
The CSC Academic All-American nod just adds to a lengthy list of postseason Red Storm standout. Garziano was named a United Soccer Coaches Second Team All-American, the BIG EAST Midfielder of the Year and a unanimous first team selection, All-East Region First Team a CSC Academic All-District selection and was tabbed the No. 72 player in the country on TopDrawerSoccer's Postseason Top-100 list.
