Giuseppe De Camelis and Anton Stendal Wins BIG EAST Doubles Team of the Week

The duo went 2-0 in a pair of matches against Army and Marist
QUEENS, N.Y. (Feb. 13, 2023) – St. John's men's tennis players Giuseppe De Camelis and Anton Stendal were named BIG EAST Singles Player of the Week after a 4-0 weekend, announced by the conference on Monday afternoon. This marks the third consecutive week that a Johnnies has been included in the awards.
The duo earned a pair of wins in their first matches of the season together against Army and Marist. The Trani, Italy and Vasteras, Sweeden natives defeated Army's Vishnu Bodavula and Samuel Eden, 6-4, in the first match of the day. Later in the day, in the second match against Marist the two were victorious against Christian Mills and Moritz Daxboek, 6-3.
On the season, Stendal is 5-1 overall in doubles play. He has partnered with Carl Gustafsson to own a 3-1 record. De Camelis improved to 3-0 in doubles play, registering his other win with Axel Vila Antuna in the opening match of the season.
St. John's will play two matches next week, starting with a Wednesday midweek match against Hofstra. The Johnnies will conclude their week of play, on Saturday against Boston U.
