QUEENS, N.Y. – The St. John's men's tennis team is set to face Columbia in the first round of the 2026 NCAA Men's Tennis Championship on Friday at Boar's Head Resort in Charlottesville, Va., the NCAA announced Monday while unveiling the full 64-team field.
The winners of Friday's first-round matches will meet on Sunday, with a berth in the NCAA Super Regionals on the line.
This marks the fourth time the Red Storm will compete in Charlottesville for the NCAA Tournament, having previously appeared on the Cavaliers' campus in 2015, 2019 and 2025.
St. John's, making its seventh NCAA Tournament appearance in program history, enters postseason play after capturing its fourth BIG EAST Championship in the past seven seasons under Head Coach Dillon Pottish.
The Red Storm posted a 19-6 overall record this season, winning six of their final seven matches. At last week's BIG EAST Championship, St. John's secured three victories in as many days, capped by a commanding 4-1 win over second-seeded DePaul in the title match to clinch its second consecutive NCAA Tournament berth.
St. John's went a perfect 5-0 in conference play and has not lost a BIG EAST regular-season match since 2013. Five of the team's six losses this season came against opponents that qualified for the 2026 NCAA Tournament.
Radomir Tomic led the Red Storm in singles play, compiling a 16-4 record, including a 13-3 mark on the top court. He also posted a 14-4 doubles record alongside Danilo Raicevic and Sergej Zivkovic.
In his first season in Queens, Northern Arizona transfer Semen Agynskyy made an immediate impact, tallying a 13-3 singles record and an impressive 16-2 mark in doubles play with Adam Groves. Agynskyy was named the BIG EAST Tournament Most Outstanding Player after going 5-0 over the championship weekend.
Columbia enters the tournament with a 16-7 overall record and a 6-1 mark in conference play. St. John's is 2-8 all-time against the Lions, with the most recent meeting coming in 2019. Friday's matchup will mark the fourth neutral-site meeting between the programs and their first-ever meeting in NCAA Tournament play.
First serve against the Lions is set for 12 p.m.
