St. John’s Takes Fourth at the BIG EAST Championships

Jessie Kweon finishes tied for 7th place
HARDEEVILLE, S.C.- For the third time in the last four conference tournaments, the St. John's women's golf team took fourth place at the BIG EAST Championships.
The Red Storm shot 78-over as a team over the three-day 54-hole tournament at Riverton Pointe Golf and Country Club in Hardeeville, S.C. The Johnnies finished strong shooting their best round on Wednesday carding a 12-over, 300, cumulative team score over the final 18 holes.
For the fifth-straight year, Xavier will take home the league title with a score of 29-over. Georgetown checks in at second while Creighton followed in third. Seton Hall (5th) and Butler (6th) finished behind St. John's to round out the field.
Individually, Jessie Kweon led the Red Storm tallying a team-high leaderboard finish at the conference tournament for the fourth time in her career. The graduate student ended her three rounds at plus-15 and tied for seventh place.
Cloe Clocchiatti closed out the tournament on excellent terms shooting an a team-low 2-over, 74, on Wednesday's final round. The senior logged her first top-10 finish at this event and shot 16-over for the tournament. The Padua, Italy native made par on 35 out of 54 holes, second most in the field.
Laia Barro and Karen Beglin each finished with a tournament-best 3-over, 75, in the third round today. Barro concluded the event with a team-high eight made birdies and finished tied for 19th. Beglin finished in 22nd place at 25-over.
Amy Kim substituted back in for today's final round and shot a 6-over, 78, at Riverton Pointe Country Club.
Today's event concludes the 2022-23 season for the Red Storm and the squad will be back on the course in the fall.
