St. John’s welcomes rising junior guard Glenn Taylor Jr. after averaging nearly 10 points per game over his two seasons in Corvallis
QUEENS, N.Y. – Head Coach Rick Pitino has landed another experienced wing for the 2023-24 campaign, as Oregon State transfer Glenn Taylor Jr. officially signed with the St. John's men's basketball program on Tuesday.

"Glenn has been an extremely effective basketball player in the Pac-12," said Pitino. "He puts it on the floor, gets to the foul line where he shoots 80 percent, and he's extremely quick and athletic. Glenn fits perfect for our style of play."

A 6-foot-6 rising junior, Taylor averaged nearly 10 points, shooting 44.9 percent from the field, and four rebounds per contest in 62 appearances over the last two seasons in Corvallis, Ore. Taylor recorded double figures 28 times, including three 20-plus point performances, in his two years at Oregon State. He also registered three double-doubles during his tenure with the Beavers, most recently posting 18 points and 10 rebounds on Feb. 11 in a win over USC.

As a sophomore in 2022-23, Taylor started 26 of 32 appearances and averaged 30.1 minutes per contest. Taylor finished second on the team in scoring with 11.6 points per game, as he recorded double figures 20 times including three 20-point efforts. He also posted career-highs with 3.7 rebounds and 2.2 assists per contest last season. Taylor exploded for a career-high 28 points and hit 15-of-16 free-throw attempts to help lead the Beavers past California on March 4.

A 2022 Pac-12 All-Freshman Team selection, Taylor appeared in 30 games as a rookie at Oregon State, while starting the final 12 games of the season. He averaged 6.9 points and shot 48.2 percent from the field in 22.3 minutes per game in 2021-22. Taylor scored double figures eight times, including a season-best 16 points against Oregon in the Pac-12 Tournament. The Las Vegas native finished his freshman campaign on a high note, averaging 9.5 points and 4.6 rebounds over the final 11 games of the season.

Prior to his time at Oregon State, Taylor Jr. played his senior season at Arizona Compass Prep School in Chandler, Ariz., averaging 14.3 points per game. He was a four-star recruit according to 247Sports and rated the 22nd-best small forward in the Class of 2021.

Taylor was also a three-year letter winner at Cheyenne High School in Las Vegas. In his time at Cheyenne, Taylor averaged 11.5 points as a freshman before seeing substantial jumps to 19.0 points as a sophomore and then 24.2 points per game as a junior.
