Former Women’s Soccer Standout Shea Connors Signs with NWSL’s San Diego Wave FC

SAN DIEGO– Former St. John's women's soccer player Shea Connors has inked a deal with the NWSL's San Diego Wave.
The forward will join the squad on a national team replacement contract as the Women's World Cup is set to kick-off on July 20.
Connors appeared in 73 games, making 58 starts for Head Coach Ian Stone in Queens from 2014-17. The New Haven, Conn., native racked up an array of accolades being named to the BIG EAST All-Rookie Team, All-Tournament Team (2016) and was a Preseason All-BIG EAST selection (2017). The forward scored eight goals and tallied 12 assists (28 points) during her days with the Johnnies. Connors was an integral part of the 2015 squad that qualified for the NCAA Tournament.
Following her time at St. John's, Connors jumped into the professional rankings and played for Knattspyrnufélag Reykjavíkur in Iceland's top division in 2018. She tallied three goals over 16 appearances with the club.
The former Johnnie then moved to Australia, where she tore it up for the National Premier League's (NPL) Logan Lightning scoring 25 goals in just 15 matches, including five hat-tricks. After that she was signed to Brisbane River in the top flight of Australian soccer, the A-League, where she spent the 2020 campaign. The following year she went back to the NPL, where she earned Player of the Year honors with Lions F.C. in Queensland. Over three seasons in the NPL, the attacker tallied an impressive 78 goals. In her latest season, she is back with Brisbane River where Connors made 18 starts and registered six goals and two assists in 2022-23.
