Jayla Everett Signs Professional Contract with BCF Elfic Fribourg in Switzerland

QUEENS, N.Y. – Former St. John's women's basketball guard Jayla Everett signed a professional contract with BCF Elfic Fribourg in Switzerland
Everett will join the 18-time Swiss League Champions later this summer in preparation for the 2023-24 campaign in the top women's professional league in Switzerland.
In just one season with the Red Storm, Everett shined, leading the team with 16.0 points per game en route to a historic season for the Johnnies. The sharpshooting guard played a pivotal role in getting St. John's back to the Big Dance for the first time in seven years and sunk the game-winning floater to beat Purdue, 66-64, and gave the squad its first NCAA Tournament since 2014 on March 16.
A terrific shooter, Everett flushed 78 3-pointers during this past season, the third most in a single-year in program history. The St. Louis, Mo., native shot 43.1 percent from beyond-the-arc, which ranked 11th in the nation. Her scoring average ranked seventh in the BIG EAST and was the highest mark by a first-year player at St. John's since Tawana Jackson in 1994-95. The guard eclipsed the 20-point mark eight times in 2022-23, including a pair of 26-point outings against DePaul (Feb. 11) and Xavier (Jan. 8).
The redshirt senior racked up plenty of awards for her efforts on the court. Everett was unanimously named to the All-BIG EAST First Team, earned All-MET First Team honors and was tabbed to the conference's weekly honor roll seven times.
Prior to her arrival in Queens, Everett played two seasons at Pittsburgh, where she led the team in scoring in 2021-22, averaging 13.6 points per contest. Her first stop was at New Mexico, where she was named the Mountain West Rookie of the Year and earned all-league honorable mention honors in 2019.
In total, Everett scored 1,695 points throughout her illustrious collegiate career.
