St. John’s Women’s Basketball Embarks on European Tour

QUEENS, N.Y.- The St. John's women's basketball team will embark on a 10-day European tour from Aug. 11-20, visiting Rome, Italy and Athens, Greece.
The Red Storm will play three games while overseas, one in Rome and two in Athens. The team will open the tour on Monday against the European All-Stars at Polisportiva Supernova Fiumicino in Rome. The contest will tip-off at 7 p.m. local time (1 p.m. ET).
After their brief stint in Italy, the Johnnies will head to Greece and square off with the Athena All-Stars on Wednesday, Aug. 16, at 8 p.m. local time (1 p.m. ET) at the EuroHoops Dome. The squad will close out the trip on Friday, Aug. 18, at 7 p.m. (12 p.m. ET) against the Aphrodite All-Stars at the EuroHoops Dome.

In addition to the on-court action, St. John's will visit some of Europe's most famous landmarks including the Colosseum, the Vatican and Sistine Chapel, the Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps, the Acropolis and Parthenon, the first-ever Olympic Stadium and so much more.
The Johnnies are coming off an impressive 2022-23 campaign where they compiled a 23-9 record and earned their first NCAA Tournament victory in nine years.
Four players return from last year's squad, including BIG EAST Sixth-Woman of the Year Unique Drake, who led all bench players in scoring with 8.6 points per game, and starting power forward Jillian Archer, who ranked eighth in the league in rebounding with 7.7 boards per game.
Head Coach Joe Tartamella welcomes eight newcomers to his roster including four freshman- Julie Bahati, Tyonna Bailey, Jayda Brown and Nevaeh Wingate. Additionally four talented transfers- all-conference selections Ber'Nyah Mayo (UMass) and Phoenix Gedeon (Robert Morris), Amber Brown, who started all 110 games in four years at Pittsburgh, and intraconference transfer Tara Daye, who played her rookie year at DePaul.
This trip marks just the second time in program history the team has traveled abroad and the first since 2014, when it ventured to Spain and Italy.
