St.-Jean tallied an assist and logged 180 minutes during the opening week
QUEENS, N.Y. – St. John's women's soccer defender Frederique St.-Jean was named to the TopDrawerSoccer National Team of the Week, the organization announced on Tuesday.
St.-Jean played an integral role in the Johnnies opening two contests, as a major part of a backline that allowed just two shots on target and not a single goal. In the season opener against FDU on Aug. 17, the redshirt junior bounced a header straight to a streaking Jordan Levy, who tucked it home for St. John's first goal of the season just four minutes into the match.
After missing the 2022 campaign due to injury, the team captain made a triumphant return starting both matches and logging all 180 minutes. The Red Storm held an FDU attack that averaged 13.5 shots per game in 2022 to just one on Thursday night.
St.-Jean has played in 35 total matches over her tenure in Queens, including making 22 appearances during the team's impressive run to the NCAA Tournament Round of 16 in 2021.
The Red Storm will be back in action on Sunday against Colgate for a 1 p.m. start in Hamilton, N.Y.
