Jailene DeJesus Named to BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll

DeJesus earns spot for third time in the last five weeks
NEW YORK– For the third time in the last five weeks, Jailene DeJesus was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll as she continues her recent successes on the pitch.
DeJesus recorded three points adding a goal and an assist on Sunday afternoon in a 2-2 draw with Villanova at Higgins Soccer Complex.
The midfielder trimmed the 2-0 deficit with a tally in the 37th minute before launching a rocket off the crossbar to setup Jordyn Levy's equalizer in the 90th minute with just 0:31 left to play.
Over the last eight matches, the senior has been an offensive machine totaling a team-high 15 points on six goal and three helpers. During conference play, the Wyomissing, Pa., native has recorded 10 points (four goals, two assists) through six league matches, which ranks first in the BIG EAST. DeJesus also ranks second in goals, tied for second in assists and fourth in shots (20) during league competition.
In the shot department, DeJesus paces the squad with 41 attempts including 22 on target. During the draw at Villanova she unleashed six strikes.
After receiving her first league honor on Sept. 17, DeJesus has become a mainstay over the last month earning recognition for the third time in 28 days. The midfielder began her scoring stretch in impressive fashion tallying two goals and an assist in wins over Ivy League foes in Cornell and Penn. She was honored once again when she netted a brace in a 2-2 tie with Seton Hall on Sept. 30.
DeJesus and the Johnnies will be back at Belson Stadium for the first time in two weeks when they welcome RV Xavier on Thursday at 7 p.m.
