St. John’s to Visit BIG EAST Rival Seton Hall on Wednesday

The Red Storm will look to clinch its spot in the BIG EAST Tournament with a win
QUEENS, N.Y. – Coming off a road draw against Providence, the St. John's men's soccer team will head to Seton Hall for a midweek matchup on Wednesday. With a win on the road, the Red Storm can clinch its spot in the BIG EAST Tournament.
Kick-off from Owen T. Carroll Field is slated for 7 p.m. Wednesday's match will be streamed on BEDN, powered by FloFC, and live stats will be available on RedStormSports.com.
The Johnnies (5-5-4, 3-1-1 BIG EAST) battled to a 1-1 draw at the Friars on Saturday. Sophomore attacker Martin Kozak provided the equalizer with his third goal of the year in the 58th minute. Augustine Boadi also recorded his second assist of the season with the primary helper, marking the third time in the last four games the junior midfielder has logged a point. The Red Storm held a slight advantage in shots, 12-10, and corner kicks, 2-1.
St. John's is ranked third in the BIG EAST and top 35 in the nation with 14.9 shots (20th) and 6.1 attempts on frame (33rd) per contest.
Through four league games, the Red Storm paces the conference with 18.0 shots per game, while ranking second with 6.2 points, 2.6 assists per contest and 6.0 corners per match. Kozak and Tyler Morck are both tied for sixth in BIG EAST action with two strikes apiece.
Wednesday's contest will mark the 47th all-time meeting between the two programs with the Red Storm holding a 26-15-5 advantage. St. John's dominated Seton Hall in its most recent matchup, earning a 3-0 victory at Belson Stadium on Oct. 18, 2023. Eric Danquah scored the game-winner in the seventh minute, while teammates Nigel Griffith and Nicolas Fleuriau Chateau also tallied a goal in the win. Goalkeeper Alec McLachlan earned a clean sheet without recording a save en route to halting Seton Hall's five-match unbeaten streak against the Johnnies.
