St. John’s to Host Butler on Friday

The Red Storm swept its season series with the Bulldogs in 2023
QUEENS, N.Y. – Fresh off a dramatic 3-2 win over Villanova on Wednesday, the St. John's volleyball team will welcome Butler to Carnesecca Arena on Friday night at 7 p.m. The contest will be streamed on ESPN+ and live stats will be available on RedStormSports.com.
The Johnnies got back in the win collum on Wednesday night, outlasting a late comeback attempt from Villanova to take the match, 3-2. The Red Storm now holds a 15-8 overall record and a 4-5 BIG EAST mark.
Lucrezia Lodi continued her impressive stretch of play against the Wildcats, by leading the contest and matching her career high with 24 kills on a 23.4 percent hitting clip. The talented junior also registered six digs, two blocks and two aces in the match.
The Italy native has racked up 214 kills, 148 digs, 28 blocks and 17 service aces this season. She has also logged four double-doubles this season.
Erin Jones followed up her fifth BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll selection of the season by notching her 10th double-double of the 2024 campaign. The right-side hitter recorded 17 assists, 13 digs and six kills on Wednesday night.
The standout paces the Red Storm and ranks 10th in points (382), 13th in aces (40) and 21st in kills (318), nationally, as of Oct. 24.
Wiktoria Kowalczyk posted her third double-double of the year on match-best 32 helpers and 11 digs against Villanova. The senior paces the conference and ranks 15th in the country with 779 total assists.
Ludovica Zola and Magda Stambrowska had a night in front of the net on Wednesday, accounting for nine total blocks. Zola led the team with five total rejections, including two solo swats, while Stambrowska tallied four block assists and nine kills.
As a team, St. John's ranks top 50 in the country in total assists (fourth), total kills (fifth), total attacks (26th), total aces (45th) and total blocks (48th).
St. John's will host Butler for the 20th meeting in program history on Friday night. The all-time series is knotted at 10 wins apiece coming into this weekend's matchup.
