St. John’s to Face Loyola (Md.) on Tuesday

The Red Storm and Greyhounds to meet for seventh time in program history
QUEENS, N.Y. – Fresh off consecutive come-from-behind victories over Villanova and Butler, the St. John's men's soccer team (4-4-3) will welcome Loyola (Md.) to Queens on Tuesday.
Kick-off from Queens is slated for 7 p.m. Tuesday's match will be streamed on FloFC and live stats will be available on RedStormSports.com.
St. John's will celebrate Latinx Heritage Month in partnership with the university's Office of Multicultural Affairs. Themed music and games will be played prior to the start of the game.
After helping Head Coach Dr. David Masur enter the 400-win club with the Red Storm against Villanova, the Johnnies made history again by securing an identical 2-1 win at Butler on Saturday. The Red Storm utilized 10 of its 13 shots across the final 45 minutes of action, including six on frame. Augustine Boadi registered his first goal in a Red Storm uniform with a strike in the 50th minute. The Kumasi, Ghana product saw just 29 minutes of action while logging four shot attempts, three of which were on target en route to a BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll selection.
Nigel Griffith also scored his first goal of the season with a rocket from 25 yards out in the 76th minute. The Stroudsburg, Pa., native also produced two shots, both on target, across 30 minutes off the bench. Thomas Lamaille and Macoumba Ba matched Griffith with a pair of attempts in the contest.
St. John's is among the top teams in Division I with 13.6 shots per game, ranking 46th in the country. Chilean forward Martin Kozak has logged two game-winning goals this season, good for 28th in the nation. Goalkeeper Alec McLachlan is also one of 33 Division I goalies to have played in every minute this season.
Tuesday's contest will mark the seventh all-time meeting between the two programs. St. John's will look to secure its first win over the Greyhounds with the last five matchups being decided by one goal or less. The two programs will meet for the first time since St. John's and Loyola battled to a 1-1 draw on Sept. 9, 2022. Antek Sienkiel knocked home a feed from Wesley Leggett in the 61st minute.
Loyola will look for just its second win of the season when the Greyhounds come to Queens on Tuesday. As a team, Loyola is ranked third in the Patriot League with 3.8 saves and 4.4 shots on goal per game.
The Greyhounds picked up its lone victory of the season against Holy Cross, earning a 2-1 win on Sept. 29. Richie Nichols scored in the 72nd minute before Seth Powder knocked home the game-winner with 53 seconds remaining. Caden Stafford produced the primary helper on both goals. The junior forward paces the team with eight points this season.
