Dwyer averaged 14.0 points during a 2-0 week for the Red Storm
NEW YORK– St. John's women's basketball senior Lashae Dwyer was tabbed to the first edition of the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll, the conference office announced on Veterans Day.
Dwyer made her mark during her first week of the season in Queens averaging 14.0 points per game, 3.0 assists per game and 2.5 steals per contest in a 2-0 week from the Red Storm. St. John's started off the 2024-25 campaign in dominant fashion with double-digit wins over Saint Peter's and LIU.
In her Red Storm debut on Monday, Dwyer wasted no time getting acclimated, going off for 16 points, four assists, four rebounds and four steals in just 21 minutes during the 80-39 win over Saint Peter's at Carnesecca Arena. Dwyer shot 7-for-11 (63.6%) from the floor and 2-for-4 (50%) from 3-point range during the 41-point victory, the program's largest since Nov. 25, 2007.
On Friday at LIU, the 5-foot-6 guard went for her second-straight double-figure scoring performance totaling 12 points in Brooklyn. Dwyer recorded a career-high two blocks against the Sharks in a 67-50 victory at the Steinberg Wellness Center.
The senior arrived at St. John's after three seasons at Miami. Dwyer made 96 career appearances for the Hurricanes and averaged a career-best 6.7 points per game in 2023-24, making 13 starts. In 2022-23, she ranked second on the team with 45 steals and played in all 35 games as Miami advanced to the NCAA Tournament Elite Eight. The conference recognition marks a first for Dwyer since Dec. 13, 2021, when she was named ACC Freshman of the Week.
Dwyer and the Johnnies will be back on action on Wednesday night when they face Loyola Maryland at 7 p.m. on ESPN+.
