Dwyer averaged 15.0 points per game during 2-0 week for the Red Storm
NEW YORK– St. John's women's basketball guard Lashae Dwyer earned a BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll nod for the second-straight week, the conference office announced on Monday.
Dwyer averaged 15.0 points, 2.0 steals and shot 87.5 percent (14-16) from the free throw line during road wins over Loyola Maryland and Rhode Island as the Red Storm advanced to 4-0 to start the year.
Dwyer poured in a season-high 22 points in the 69-61 victory at Loyola Maryland and shot 12-for-14 (85.7%) from the free throw line. The guard's 12 makes from the charity stripe marked the most by a Red Storm player since Qadashah Hoppie broke the school record on Nov. 24, 2018, and tied for ninth-most in a single-game in program history.
The Miami transfer tallied three-straight double-figure scoring performances to start the season for the first time in her career. The Toronto native's 22-point outing sat just one point shy of her career-high, which she set against Florida State on Dec. 21, 2022.
In Sunday's comeback victory over Rhode Island, 60-45, she chipped in eight points and a game-high three steals. Her defensive efforts aided the Johnnies in holding the Rams to just 18 second half points and just 23.1 percent shooting from the field over the final 20 minutes.
The senior leads the team averaging 14.5 points per game and is shooting 87.5 percent from the charity stripe, which ranks top-100 in NCAA Division I.
Dwyer and the Red Storm will return to Carnesecca Arena on Thursday night to face Marist at 7 p.m.
