Fencing Adds Competition to 2024-25 Schedule

The Red Storm will now compete at Wagner’s Brian Palestis Memorial Invitational on Feb. 2
QUEENS, N.Y. – Head coach Yury Gelman announced that the Red Storm will add a competition to its 2024-25 schedule.
The Johnnies will now travel to Staten Island, N.Y., on Feb. 2 to compete at Wagner's Brian Palestis Memorial Invitational, where they will face Columbia, Vassar and Wagner.
This marks the sixth regular season competition on St. John's schedule and will be the second-to-last meet before the team heads to the NCAA Northeast Regional Championships on March 9.
Gelman enters his 30th season at the helm of the Red Storm fencing teams, coaching over 135 All-Americans, 26 individual NCAA Champions and won the 2001 national title. In 2024, Gelman led the Johnnies to its 31st consecutive season finishing top seven or higher nationally.
