NEW YORK– St. John's women's basketball standout Lashae Dwyer was tabbed to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll, the conference office announced on Monday afternoon.
Dwyer strung together a stellar week averaging 19.5 points, 5.5 steals and 4.5 rebounds per game as the Red Storm logged a pair of wins over power conference opponents in Penn State and Wake Forest. The Toronto native went 11-for-12 (91.7%) from the free throw line last week.
The senior logged the best performance of her collegiate career at Penn State on Monday, lifting the Red Storm to a marquee road win, 72-67. Dwyer went for a career-high 25 points on 10-of-15 shooting and added seven steals, six rebounds and five assists. The guard became just one of four players in NCAA Division I this season to record 25 or more points and seven or more steals in a single-game this season.
On Sunday in the 63-45 win over Wake Forest, Dwyer finished in double-figures for the eighth time in nine games, logging 14 points. She went 6-for-6 from the charity stripe and is shooting 86.5 percent from the free throw line
Dwyer earns honor roll recognition for the third time this season and is leading the Johnnies averaging 15.6 points per game, which ranks ninth in the conference. The Miami transfer is logging 3.1 steals per game, which sits atop the BIG EAST and 15th in NCAA Division I. Dwyer has totaled 28 swipes and is registering 4.5 per game over the last four contests.
St. John's will be back in action on Wednesday when it takes on Hofstra on the road at 6 p.m. on the MSG Network.
