Unique Drake Earns BIG EAST Honor for the Seventh Time This Season

Redshirt senior tabbed to honor roll after averaging 19.0 points per game last week
NEW YORK – St. John's women's basketball redshirt senior Unique Drake was honored by the BIG EAST Conference for the seventh time this season after earning a spot on the conference's weekly honor roll.
The prolific scoring guard has been named BIG EAST Player of the Week twice and today's honor roll nod marks her fifth of the season.
Drake averaged 19.0 points, 2.5 rebounds and 2.0 steals during a 1-1 week for the Red Storm.
In Wednesday's win over Xavier, the Columbia, S.C., native went for 24 points in a 67-55 victory at Carnesecca Arena. Drake made 10 field goals marking the eighth game this season with double-digit makes from the floor.
The guard took over in the fourth quarter scoring the team's first eight points in the final frame to separate the Red Storm from Musketeers. Drake helped ignite a 21-11 scoring stretch over the final 10 minutes to move to 8-3 in league play.
At Gampel Pavilion on Sunday, Drake went for 11 of her 14 points in the latter half and chipped in two steals in the loss at No. 11/10 UConn. In the final minutes of the third quarter, she made a 3-pointer for the 22nd time in 24 games this season that sparked a 16-3 run to cut the deficit to seven at the beginning of the fourth frame.
On the year, the Johnnies standout is averaging 18.5 points per game, which ranks third in the BIG EAST. Drake has nailed 60 3-pointers on the year which ranks top-20 in the country.
Drake and the Johnnies will prepare for their next BIG EAST battle on Friday night when they visit Butler at Hinkle Fieldhouse.
