QUEENS, N.Y.– The St. John's women's basketball program has announced the commitment of Manhattan transfer Jade Blagrove, who will join the team for the 2024-25 campaign.
Blagrove makes the short trip over to Queens after spending the last three seasons at Manhattan. The 6-foot-2 forward averaged career highs in scoring (8.4 PPG) and rebounding (7.1 RPG) for the Jaspers in 2023-24.
"We can't wait to have Jade on-campus to be a part of our program," said Head Coach Joe Tartamella. "She's a dynamic post player that brings a wealth of experience both at the collegiate and international levels. She has a great motor and her size and athleticism will help us inside in the paint."
In 2023-24, Blagrove started all 30 games for the Jaspers averaging 29.7 minutes per contest. The senior averaged 8.4 points, 7.1 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game, all personal-best marks. Her rebounding average ranked second on the team and ninth in the MAAC while she recorded seven games with 10 rebounds or more. The forward totaled a career-high 18 points at Quinnipiac on Jan. 6.
The Barendrecht, Netherlands native played in all 32 games during her junior season, starting in 30 contests while adding 5.7 points and 5.3 rebounds per game. Blagrove shot a personal-best 78.0 percent from the free throw line in 2022-23 and is 77.0 percent from the charity stripe over the course of her career. On Nov. 26, 2022, Blagrove recorded seven steals against North Dakota, the most by a Manhattan player since 2019. She also hauled in the highest rebound total by a Jasper that season, pulling down 17 boards against Quinnipiac on Jan. 26, 2023.
The year prior, Blagrove logged 5.1 points and 4.5 rebounds per game in 32 appearances, 19 of which were starts. The newest Johnnie helped guide her previous squad to back-to-back MAAC Tournament Championship Game appearances in 2022 and 2023.
Prior to arriving in the Big Apple, Blagrove played one season at USF and appeared in four games. She was a part of the Bulls' 2021 American Athletic Conference (AAC) Championship run and advanced to the NCAA Tournament Second Round.
Back home in the Netherlands, Blagrove attended Calandlyceum, a secondary school in Amsterdam, and played for Orange Lions Academy U20 team. She averaged 17.6 points and 10.0 rebounds per game in her final season with the Lions. She has also gained ample experience as a member of the Dutch National Team, earning spots on the U14, U16 and U18 teams. In 2018, the U18 Netherlands squad finished sixth at the European Championships in Oberwart, Austria.
