BIG EAST Announces 2024-25 Conference Schedule

The St. John’s men’s basketball team will open league play against DePaul on Dec. 17
QUEENS, N.Y. – The BIG EAST Conference released the complete 2024-25 league schedule for the upcoming men's basketball season on Thursday. TV designations and tip-off times will be announced at a later date.
BIG EAST games will continue to be televised by FOX Sports, the conference's television partner for the past 11 years. CBS Sports will also present a select number of games on CBS and Paramount+ as well as on CBS Sports Network. The BIG EAST begins a new relationship with Peacock this season, which will carry some regular season games, the BIG EAST Tournament First Round tripleheader and two games in the quarterfinal round.
Fresh off a 20-win season under Head Coach Rick Pitino, the Red Storm will play nine non-conference games before opening BIG EAST play in 2024-25. The Johnnies are scheduled to face stiff competition in its non-league portion of the schedule, beginning with St. John's season debut at "The World's Most Famous Arena" on Nov. 17 against 2024 NCAA Tournament participant and reigning Mountain West tournament champion New Mexico. Led by Richard Pitino, son of the Red Storm's Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame coach, the Lobos will visit Madison Square Garden for a showdown that will benefit the Tunnel 2 Towers Foundation.
Following its debut in Midtown, the Red Storm will head to the Bahamas for the Continental Tire Baha Mar Championship (Nov. 21-22) alongside Baylor, Tennessee and Virginia, before facing Georgia (Nov. 24) at Atlantis Resort. Nearly two weeks later, the Johnnies will host Kansas State (Dec. 7) in the BIG EAST – Big 12 Battle.
St. John's will open the conference play inside Carnesecca Arena, welcoming DePaul for a Dec. 17 showdown. The Red Storm swept its series against the Blue Demons last season, including a 104-77 rout on the road, which tied the program record for their highest scoring output in league action. St. John's has won five-straight games against DePaul heading into its BIG EAST opener.
Three days later, the Red Storm will visit Providence for a showdown on Dec. 20 before returning to Carnesecca Arena for its non-conference finale against Delaware on Dec. 28.
After traveling to Omaha for a New Year's Eve battle with Creighton, the Johnnies will ring in the New Year by celebrating Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame Coach Lou Carnesecca's 100th birthday a day early when Butler comes to Queens on Jan. 4. St. John's legendary head coach reaches the century milestone on Jan. 5.
Following a midweek matchup at Xavier on Jan. 8, the Johnnies will play three of its next four games at home, beginning with a showdown against Villanova on Jan. 11. The Red Storm swept the Wildcats in a season series for the first time since the 1992-93 campaign. St. John's rolled past Villanova at Madison Square Garden on Jan. 24 behind a 21-point showing from Joel Soriano.
The Red Storm will play host to Georgetown three days later when the Hoyas visit on Jan. 14. Last season, Daniss Jenkins scored 23 points to help the Red Storm clinch the fifth seed in the BIG EAST Tournament with an 86-78 victory over the Hoyas inside MSG on March 9.
A rematch of the 2024 BIG EAST Tournament Quarterfinals will take place on Jan. 18 as the Red Storm will square off with defending NIT Champion Seton Hall. New St. John's guard and 2024 All-BIG EAST First Team selection Kadary Richmond will make his first appearance against his former team in New Jersey.
After playing host to Xavier (Jan. 22) and traveling to Georgetown (Jan. 28), the Red Storm will welcome Providence to the Big Apple for a Feb. 1 contest. St. John's edged the Friars, 75-73, thanks to 16-point efforts from Soriano and Jenkins that helped the Johnnies to a 4-1 mark to open conference play last season, its best start since 2000-01. Three days later, the Red Storm will close out a two-game homestand against Marquette on Feb. 4.
St. John's will then visit back-to-back National Champion Connecticut for a Friday night showdown on Feb. 7. The Red Storm tested the Huskies on their road to back-to-back national titles, scoring the most points (90) against UConn last season in the BIG EAST Tournament Semifinals.
The Johnnies will make their way to Pennsylvania for a Feb. 12 showdown with Villanova. St. John's broke a 31-year drought with its 81-71 victory at Finneran Pavilion, marking its first win inside the Wildcats' on-campus home since the 1992-93 season.
The Red Storm will look to repeat its outcome from a season ago when Creighton visits on Feb. 16. St. John's remained undefeated against ranked opponents on Johnnies Day with an 80-66 victory over then-No. 15/15 Creighton. Jenkins paced the team with 27 points while fellow guard Jordan Dingle registered 18 points of his own.
After a road trip to Chicago to take on DePaul on Feb. 19, the Red Storm will play host to UConn four days later on Feb. 23.
St. John's will close out the regular season slate with two of its final three games on the road. Following a date with Butler inside Hinkle Fieldhouse on Feb. 26, the Johnnies will link up with Seton Hall in its home finale on March 1. The Red Storm will close the 2024-25 regular season at Marquette on March 8.
The Johnnies will look to make a run in the 2025 BIG EAST Tournament, held at "The World's Most Famous Arena," set for March 12-15.
