Nora Basile Named BIG EAST Freshman of the Week; Jordyn Levy Tabbed to Honor Roll

Basile tallied game-high three points in 3-3 draw against UConn
NEW YORK– The St. John's women's soccer team once again racked up BIG EAST Weekly Awards as Nora Basile was named freshman of the week and Jordyn Levy was tabbed to the league's honor roll.
The recognition comes after a strong offensive output to open conference play on Sunday battling to a high-scoring 3-3 draw with UConn.
After Hope Van Tuyle became the first Johnnie to earn the BIG EAST Freshman of the Week award since 2021, Basile follows her classmate as the second-straight rookie selected.
The Rockville Centre, N.Y., product shined on Sunday tallying her first collegiate goal and assist against the Huskies at Belson Stadium.
Basile provided a pass across the box to Levy for the initial assist and headed home her first-career goal off a corner kick from Madison Mariani in the 31st minute.
On the year, the forward has played in eight matches starting in seven while logging one goal an assist (3 points) and 11 shots.
Levy scored the game-opening goal against UConn in the 23rd minute. The forward won possession off a dish from Basile and weaved around the Huskies' defender and goalkeeper to tuck home her team-best fifth tally of the season.
The senior attacker notched her fifth tally surpassing her previous season best marks of four in 2023 at St. John's and four at Indiana in 2021. The Dix Hills, N.Y., product ranks second in the BIG EAST with five goals. Additionally, she has added a pair of game-winners in victories over Saint Joseph's and UAlbany.
As a team, the forwards have been leading a potent Red Storm attack that has recorded nine goals and 12 assists (30 points) over its last three matches.
The Johnnies will be back in action on Thursday night when they travel to Providence for a 6 p.m. contest at Chapey Field at Anderson Stadium.
