Women’s Basketball Announces 2024-25 BIG EAST Schedule

Red Storm will play 18 league contests, nine at home and nine on the road
NEW YORK– The BIG EAST Conference released the 2024-25 women's basketball schedule on Wednesday afternoon.
St. John's will play 18 BIG EAST contests with nine at home and nine on the road. The Red Storm are scheduled to meet eight league opponents twice and Butler and Marquette once.
Established in 1974, the St. John's Women's Basketball program is celebrating its 50th anniversary season. In commemoration, season tickets are on sale now for $50 and can be purchased here.
Game times and broadcast destinations will be announced at a later date.
For the second-straight year, the Red Storm will open league play against Villanova. The Johnnies and Wildcats will kick-off conference competition on Dec. 21 at Finneran Pavilion. In last year's first BIG EAST contest, St. John's downed Villanova, 51-46, holding the visitors without a field goal for the final 7:05 to capture a victory at Madison Square Garden.
Right after Christmas, the Red Storm will host its first league contest in Queens on Dec. 28 when Creighton pays a visit to Carnesecca Arena.
The Johnnies will ring in 2025 with a New Year's Day matchup in Providence at Alumni Hall. St. John's holds a five-game winning streak in the series and have swept the Friars in each of the last two seasons.
Head Coach Joe Tartamella's squad will return home to face DePaul six days later on Jan. 7 at Carnesecca Arena.
The Red Storm will make its first trip to the Midwest on Jan. 11 for a showdown with Xavier at the Cintas Center. The Johnnies hold an 18-game winning streak over the Musketeers and cruised in last year's trip to Cincinnati, 60-42, behind a double-double performance from Jillian Archer.
Four days later, the Red Storm will welcome perennial power UConn back to Carnesecca Arena on Jan. 15 marking their first visit to campus since 2022. On Jan. 18, the squad will play host to Villanova in Queens.
A trip to the nation's capital is next on the docket as St. John's will meet Georgetown on Jan. 22. The Hoyas are coming off a trip to the BIG EAST Tournament Championship game and are led by the conference's reigning co-defensive player of the year in Kelsey Ransom.
The two-game road stint concludes with a visit to nearby Seton Hall at Walsh Gymnasium on Jan. 25. Returning point guard Ber'Nyah Mayo poured in a season-high 23 points in last year's visit to South Orange, N.J.
On Jan. 29, Providence will make the return trip to Queens for a Wednesday night battle. In last year's contest at Carnesecca, the Johnnies held the Friars to just 14 first half points to cruise to a 60-42 victory on Senior Day.
St. John's will host a National Girls and Women in Sports Day celebration on Feb. 2 when Xavier comes to Queens. The Red Storm are undefeated against its league foe in Queens boasting a 10-0 home record.
On Feb. 5, the team will make its way to Milwaukee to take on Marquette at the Al McGuire Center.
After a weekend off, the Red Storm will cross state lines to meet UConn on Feb. 12 at Gampel Pavilion in Storrs, Conn. St. John's orchestrated a historic upset over the then-No. 4/5 Huskies at the XL Center on Feb. 21, 2023, 69-64.
The Red Storm will return to the Big Apple to host a pair of Sunday contests against Butler on Feb. 16 and Seton Hall on Feb. 23.
In between those two contests, the dquad will travel to Omaha to meet Creighton on Feb. 19 at D.J. Sokol Arena.
The Johnnies will conclude the three-game homestand with its final regular season contest in Queens on Feb. 26 when they go up against Georgetown.
