QUEENS, N.Y. – The St. John's women's tennis team will kick off its fall competition this weekend at the UMass Fall Invitational.
The Johnnies will compete on Sep. 27-29 in Amherst, Mass., against athletes from UMass, URI and Harvard. This will be the first time the Red Storm has attended the Minutewomen's fall event under Head Coach Lauren Leo.
Leo, entering her 10th season at the helm of the Red Strom, returns four athletes from last year's squad, including sophomores Noemi Babikova and Nicoline Sartz-Lunde, both coming off strong rookie campaigns this past spring. Leo has also brought in four new faces, including Penn State graduate transfer, Alexandra Nielsen, and NJIT product, Sandra Dzhambazov.
In spring 2024, St. John's won 13 matches and advanced to the BIG EAST Tournament semifinals for the ninth consecutive tournament under Coach Leo.
Following this weekend's action in The Bay State, the Red Storm will continue its fall slate on Oct. 4-6 at the Fordham Fall Invitational in The Bronx.
