St. John’s Readies For Regular Season Finale Against Stony Brook

The Red Storm seek sixth consecutive victory on Friday
QUEENS, N.Y. – The St. John's women's tennis team will close out its regular season on Friday with a matchup against Stony Brook (7-11, 4-4 CAA). First serve from the University Tennis Courts on the campus of Stony Brook is scheduled for 12 p.m.
The Red Storm enter the contest riding a five-match winning streak, improving to 14-5 overall and 5-1 in BIG EAST play. In their most recent outing, St. John's secured a 4-3 victory over Seton Hall.
The Johnnies claimed the doubles point behind strong performances from Alicia Gomez and Abi Redman, along with Victoria Papadopoulou and Noemi Babikova, before building a 3-0 lead in singles play with wins from Nao Kojima and Charlotta Buss. After Seton Hall rallied to even the score at 3-3, Redman clinched the match with a straight-set victory on the No. 6 court.
Stony Brook enters Friday's match on a three-match winning streak, most recently defeating Hofstra, 6-1. After opening conference play with a 1-4 record, the Seawolves have rebounded to even their mark at 4-4. Stony Brook finished the 2025 season at 10-10, narrowly missing a berth in the CAA postseason tournament.
Friday's contest marks the 15th all-time meeting between the two programs, with St. John's holding an 8-6 advantage in the series. The Red Storm have won each of the last seven matchups, including a 4-0 victory in Queens last season.
Following the regular season finale, St. John's will turn its attention to the BIG EAST Championship, scheduled for April 16-19 in Cayce, S.C. Seeding and match times will be announced at a later date.
