St. John’s Wraps Regular Season with 4-3 Win Over Stony Brook

The Red Storm finish the season at 15-5 overall.
STONY BROOK, N.Y. – The St. John's women's tennis team closed out its regular season with a 4-3 victory over Stony Brook (7-12, 4-4 CAA) on Friday afternoon.
With the win, the Red Storm finish the regular season at 15-5 overall and 5-1 in BIG EAST play.
St. John's secured the doubles point to take an early 1-0 lead. Noemi Babikova and Alicia Gomez earned a 6-4 victory in their first match as a pairing this season over Paisha Douglas and Sanjana Devineni. Charlotta Buss and Giulia Bizzari clinched the point on the No. 3 court with a decisive win over Laura Ozola and Mila Charles.
In singles play, Stony Brook opened with a win on the No. 1 court before Bizzari responded with her second victory of the day, earning a 7-5, 7-5 win over Ozola. Nao Kojima extended the Red Storm advantage to 3-1 with a three-set triumph over Douglas, 4-6, 6-1, 6-3.
The Seawolves battled back to even the match at 3-3 with wins on the No. 4 and No. 6 courts, setting up a decisive contest on the No. 2 court. Nicoline Sartz-Lunde delivered the match-clinching
performance for St. John's, rallying for a 4-6, 6-2, 6-4 victory over Mia Palladino to secure the 4-3 win.
With the victory, the Red Storm improve to 9-6 all-time against Stony Brook and extend their winning streak in the series to eight matches dating back to 2016.
St. John's will now turn its attention to the BIG EAST Championship, presented by Jeep, set for April 16-19 in Cayce, S.C.
