Jailene DeJesus Tabbed to BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll

DeJesus scored two goals during the draw with Seton Hall
NEW YORK– The St. John's women's soccer senior Jailene DeJesus was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll, the conference office announced on Monday.
DeJesus logged a brace in a span of just 6:36 during Sunday's rainy 2-2 draw against Seton Hall to garner her second conference weekly honor this season. The midfielder paced the Johnnies with two goals and eight shots this past week.
The multi-goal marked a career-high for the Wyomissing, Pa. product. Over the last five games, the midfielder has recorded four goals and two assists (10 points).
The senior matched the game-high unleashing four shots during the setback at Providence on Thursday night. DeJesus leads the Red Storm with 29 shots on the year
On Sunday's draw with Seton Hall, DeJesus opened up the scoring after she had won possession fired a strike that was blocked. The midfielder tracked down the loose ball and tucked the strike into the near post for an unassisted tally to take a 1-0 advantage in the 19th minute.
Less than seven minutes later, Nora Basile played a cross into the opposite side of the box that found Lauryn Tran, who leaped into the air and played a beautiful volley right in front of the goal where DeJesus took it out of the air and directed a beautiful strike over the goalkeeper and into the back-of-the-net to complete the highlight-reel play.
DeJesus earns conference recognition for the second time this season after being named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll on Sept. 16.
St. John's will be back at Belson Stadium on Thursday night for its annual Pink Game when it hosts Marquette at 7 p.m.
