Hampton Announces 2025 Baseball Schedule

St. John’s to open upcoming season at Liberty on Feb. 14
QUEENS, N.Y. – Fresh off its conference-leading 10th BIG EAST Tournament crown and 38th appearance in the 2024 NCAA Tournament, the St. John's baseball team has announced its upcoming schedule for the 2025 season on Wednesday.
The Red Storm is coming off its best season under the direction Head Coach Mike Hampton and the reigning BIG EAST Coaching Staff of the Year, going 38-18-1 overall and 14-7 in league play to earn the second seed in the conference tournament. The 2024 campaign featured its highest ranked win when the Johnnies took down No. 2 Florida, 9-5, in Gainesville to open the season. St. John's also caught fire with a 19-1-1 mark over a 21-game stretch from March 3 through April 7.
The Johnnies surged in the BIG EAST Tournament, earning a walk-off 11-9 victory in the opening round against No. 3 Georgetown. After edging Xavier, 8-7, to advance to the championship game, St. John's surrendered just one run over the final six innings to earn a 4-2 victory for its 10th BIG EAST title. The Red Storm also secured a walk-off victory in the NCAA Tournament as Anthony Brienza staved off elimination with a game-winning RBI single in the 12th inning to knock out Penn, 10-9.
The Red Storm will take on two participants from the 2024 NCAA Tournament in Wake Forest and BIG EAST foe and Super Regional squad, UConn. The 2025 slate also features opponents from 8 different conferences.
St. John's will open its 2025 slate with a 10-game road trip, beginning with Liberty on Feb. 14-16. The Johnnies have won seven of its last eight meetings with the Flames. From Lynchburg, Va., the Red Storm will travel south to Winston-Salem, N.C., to take on ACC foe Wake Forest on Feb. 21-23. The Demon Deacons finished with a 38-22 and secured a spot in the 2024 Greenville Regional.
A familiar foe will play host to the Red Storm as it faces former BIG EAST counterpart Louisville in a three-game series beginning on Feb. 28. The two teams will square off for just the second time since the Cardinals left the conference for the ACC in 2014. St. John's holds a 15-13 advantage in the all-time series. Two days after wrapping up its series with the Cardinals, the Red Storm will visit Ohio State for a showdown in Columbus on March 4.
The Red Storm will make its 2025 home debut against NJIT, welcoming the Highlanders for a three-game set beginning on March 7. St. John's boasted a 22-6-1 record inside the friendly confines of Jack Kaiser Stadium last season.
After visiting Stony Brook on March 11, the Johnnies will return to Queens for a three-game series against Maine from March 14-16. The Red Storm hold a slim 7-5 edge in the all-time series between the two programs.
Following its March 19 game against Fairfield, St. John's will venture to Rock Hill, S.C. to square off with Winthrop for a three-game series starting on March 21. The Johnnies and Eagles matched up during the 2024 season with the Red Storm logging a pair of wins before erasing a three-run deficit in the seventh inning to produce a 6-6 draw due to getaway travel time restrictions. St. John's will close out its five-game road trip with a midweek game against Wagner on March 25.
The Johnnies will begin a five-game homestand against Central Connecticut State on Wednesday, March 26, before renewing its series with Big Ten rival Washington six days later on Tuesday, April 1. The game will mark the second all-time meeting between the two programs and first since the 2007 campaign.
