Johnnies’ duo ties for 12th overall after opening two rounds at Springdale Golf Club
PRINCETON, N.J. – St. John's women's golfers Kelly Wu and Laura Mizlerova
shined on the opening day of the Princeton Invitational both placing 12th overall on Saturday.
As a team, the Red Storm sit in seventh place following 36 holes of action at Springdale Golf Club. The Johnnies shot 20-over, 588, on Saturday including an 8-over, 292, in the first round of the day.
Wu got off to a scorching start firing in three birdies over the six holes to claim an early lead. The Auckland, New Zealand native carded a career-low 2-under, 69, over the round in Princeton, N.J. The senior finished the day at 4-over, 146.
Mizlerova matched Wu for a team-best 12th place finish at Springdale Golf Club. The Prague, Czech Republic native logged the best round of her young collegiate career over the final 18 holes of the day, shooting a even par, 71. The freshman registered a 4-over, 146, heading into tomorrow's final round.
Cathilyn Lee checked in next for the Red Storm after posting a 7-over, 149, to tie for 31st place. Pihla Pennanen rounded out the scorers for St. John's finishing with an 11-over, 153.
The Red Storm will be back in action for the final round of the Princeton Invitational tomorrow morning with a shotgun start beginning at 9 a.m. Live scoring will be available on SCOREBOARD.
