Red Storm record best finish at the BIG EAST Championships since 2005
OKATIE, S.C.– The St. John's women's golf team finished runner-up at the 2026 BIG EAST Championships, the program's best finish at the conference tournament since 2005.
The Red Storm surpassed Georgetown on the final day of competition at Callawassie Island Golf Club to record a second-place finish, the highest since the Johnnies won the conference title 21 years ago. It marks the Red Storm's first-ever runner-up finish, dating back to the conference tournament's inception since 2003.
"I am so happy for our team and their finish this week," said Head Coach Ambry Bishop-Santillo "They have worked hard all season, so it was great to see them break records this week and have a successful BIG EAST championship. It was truly a team effort."
The Johnnies finished the tournament with a team score of 29-over, 893, over 54 holes. On Sunday, St. John's set a new program single-round scoring record shooting 1-under, 287.
Three Red Storm golfers finished inside the top-seven after three rounds in Okatie, S.C. Kelly Wu finished in fifth behind a second-round career-low 4-under, 68, marking the best placement by a Red Storm golfer since Anna Kim finished runner-up in 2016. The senior carded an 8-over, 224, over three rounds to pace the Johnnies. Wu was named to the BIG EAST All-Tournament Team.
Xavier won the BIG EAST Championship for the seventh straight time logging a 7-over, 871, to earn the automatic bid to NCAA Regionals. The Musketeers had the top-three finishers, highlighted by individual champion Madison Reemsnyder, who won medalist honors by nine strokes.
Sophomores Pihla Pennanen and Lily Huynh tied for seventh on the leaderboard posting cumulative scores of 9-over, 225. Cathilyn Lee shined in the final round, shooting a team-low 1-over, 73, on Monday. The senior wrapped up her collegiate career with a 15-over, 231, to take 19th place.
