St. John’s Sets Single-Round Program Scoring Record on Moving Day at the BIG EAST Championships

The Red Storm shot program record 1-under, 287, on Sunday
OKATIE, S.C. – The St. John's women's golf team set a single-round program record on Sunday, shooting 1-under, 287, in the second round of the 2026 BIG EAST Championships at Callawassie Island Golf Club in Okatie, S.C.
The Red Storm surpassed the program's lowest single-round team score by two strokes on Sunday. The previous mark stood for nearly 10 years when the Johnnies carded a 1-over, 289, at the Edwin Watts/ Kiawah Island Spring Classic at Osprey Point Golf Club on Feb. 28, 2017.
All six Red Storm golfers shot 2-over, 74, or better with each of the four scorers turning in a 1-over, 73, or lower during the record-breaking performance. The Johnnies tallied a season-best 19 birdies and lead the tournament with 35 after two rounds of action.
Through 36 holes, St. John's is in the hunt sitting in third place five strokes behind the leaders, Xavier (+10) and one shot behind second place Georgetown (+14). After two rounds, the Red Storm have posted a team score of 15-over, 591. The Red Storm is seeking its first top-three finish at the BIG EAST Championships since 2017 and its runner-up or championship winning effort since it won the conference title in 2005,
Kelly Wu catapulted herself into the individual title race on Sunday, as she sits tied for first place heading into tomorrow's final round. The senior shot a career-low, 4-under, 68, in the second round, which is tied for the second-best single-round score in program history. The Auckland, New Zealand native is knotted with Seton Hall's Marta Augilar and Xavier's Madison Reemsnyder for the tournament lead at 2-under, 142. Wu finished the second round with five birdies, including four on the back nine, where she shot a 3-under, 33.
Cathilyn Lee and Laura Mizlerova both made statements on moving day, each carding a 1-over, 73, and tallying four birdies. Kirsten Lee was the third Johnnie to record a 1-over, 73, to round out the team scoring.
Pihla Pennanen and Lily Huynh both remain in the top-11 on the leaderboard after posting a 2-over, 74, on Sunday.
St. John's will return to the course tomorrow morning for the final round and will tee off beginning at 9:48 a.m. Streaming coverage will be available on GKLive TV and live scoring will be live on SCOREBOARD.
