Pair of Johnnies Selected to BIG EAST Volleyball Weekly Honor Roll

Rashanny Solano Smith notched her first Defensive Player of the Week honors, while Erin Jones was named to the Honor Roll
NEW YORK (Nov. 3, 2025) – A pair of St. John's volleyball student-athletes were recognized on the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll. Rashanny Solano Smith was named BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week, while Erin Jones earned a spot on the weekly honor roll, the league office announced on Monday afternoon.
This marks the first time during the 2025 season that two Johnnies have appeared on the conference's weekly ledger, as Solano Smith collected her first honor and Jones was recognized for the fifth time this season.
Across nine sets of action, Solano Smith recorded 45 digs and added 11 assists to help the Red Storm to a 2-0 weekend. The Costa Rican native was a difference-maker defensively, averaging 5.00 digs per set and posting match-high dig totals in both victories.
On Friday against UConn, the standout libero tallied 21 digs to go along with four assists, a kill and a service ace in the 3-1 win. Against Providence, she dug up 24 balls, added seven assists and served an ace in a marathon 3-2 victory.
As of Sunday night, Solano Smith ranks third in the BIG EAST in total digs with 381 and fourth in digs per set (4.05).
Taking over full-time setting duties for the Johnnies, Jones dished out 89 assists across nine sets, averaging 9.88 assists per set. Against UConn, the senior collected a match-high 34 assists and added nine kills and 16 digs for her sixth double-double of the season in the 3-1 win in Queens.
The following day hosting Providence, the Albuquerque, N.M., native notched a career-high 55 assists while adding seven kills and 13 digs for her seventh double-double of the season. The last Johnnie to recorded 55 or more assists was Wiktoria Kowalczyk, who tallied 60 helpers in a 3-2 win over UConn on Sept. 24, 2022, in Queens.
Jones' 55 assists are the sixth-highest total in a five-set match across the BIG EAST this season.
St. John's will take its final regular-season road trip to the Midwest next weekend. On Nov. 7, the Red Storm travel to Milwaukee to face Marquette at 8 p.m., before heading to Chicago the following day for a 5 p.m. matchup with DePaul.
