Erin Jones Heads to U.S. Women’s National Team Open Tryout

The Unanimous All-BIG EAST Team selection will join 200 other players at the tryout
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – St. John's volleyball setter and right-side hitter Erin Jones will join 200 other athletes at the U.S. Olympic & Paralympics Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo., for the U.S. Women's National Team Open Tryout. The program will begin on Friday, Feb. 21 and conclude on Sunday, Feb. 23.
The Women's National Team Open Tryout is used to place players on the U.S. Women's National Team and the U.S. Women's Collegiate National Team. Players selected to the teams will compete in the Volleyball Nation's League, NORCECA Final Six and Pan American Cup.
At the conclusion of the 2024 season, Jones was tabbed to the AVCA North Region All-Region Team and to her second All-BIG EAST Team as a unanimous selection.
The junior was a force for the Red Storm in 2024, leading the team in points (596.5), kills (504), service aces (58), points per set (4.32), kills per set (3.65) and aces per set (0.42). Jones also ranks second on the team with 405 digs and 316 assists.
Starting in all 37 matches and 138 sets last season, the Albuquerque, N.M., native paced the BIG EAST in total aces, finished second in total kills and ranked third in kills per set.
Throughout the 2024 campaign, the two-time All-BIG EAST selection registered 11 triple-doubles and 13 double-doubles. Eight of Jones' triple-doubles occurred in conference play, which broke the BIG EAST single-season record that was set by Seton Hall's Shelbey Manthrope in 2014. She was one of just four players in NCAA Division I to record 11 or more triple-doubles in 2024.
The versatile player also set new career-highs in kills, digs and aces throughout the 2024 campaign. She posted a career-best 23 kills and 18 digs against Fairfield on Sept. 18, to go along with a career-record five service aces against Marquette on Oct. 11.
