St. John’s Shuts Down Marquette, 6-1

The Johnnies have won four straights
MILWAUKEE, WISC. – The St. John's women's tennis team took down Marquette on Sunday, 6-1, in Milwaukee for its fourth-straight victory.
The Johnnies (11-4, 4-0 BIG EAST) swept the doubles point and won five-of-six contests in solo play, earning its fourth BIG EAST triumph of the season.
Reigning BIG EAST Doubles Team of the Week, Noemi Babikova and Alicia Gomez kicked off partner play with a 6-0 shutout over Adnie Weise and Tiera Jarmond on the No. 1 court. The Red Storm wasted no time finishing off doubles action. Giulia Bizzari and Nicoline Sartz-Lunde followed suit with a 6-2 victory on the No. 3 court over Aiyana Abbott and Elena Duva.
The visitors continued the momentum into singles play as Victoria Papadopoulou got the better of Jarmond on the No. 1 court in straight sets, 6-1, 6-2, and Babikova earned her second win of the morning, taking down Weise at No. 2 singles, 6-2, 6-2.
On the No. 3 court, Sartz-Lunde squeaked out the first set against Emma Davis and dominated the second frame, 6-1, for the Red Storm's fourth point of the afternoon. Freshman Charlotta Buss picked up her fifth victory of 2025 on the No. 4 court, dominating Joelle Fiallo Schad, 6-1, 6-1, before Sandra Dzhambazov improved to 9-1 in dual match competition, besting Abbot on the No. 5 court.
With the win, the Johnnies are 4-6 all-time against Marquette and win their first against the Golden Eagles since 2022.
St. John's will return to action next Saturday when it heads to the Bronx for a 12 p.m. showdown with Fordham.
