St. John’s Prepares for 2025 BIG EAST Men's Golf Championships

Peicheng Chen looks to defend individual title
QUEENS, N.Y.– The St. John's men's golf team will compete in the 2025 BIG EAST Championships presented by JEEP at Callawassie Island Golf Club in Okatie, S.C. on April 26-28.
Defending BIG EAST Individual Champion Peicheng Chen will look to defend his crown over the 54-hole tournament. Nine teams- Butler, Creighton, DePaul, Georgetown, Marquette, Seton Hall, St. John's, UConn and Xavier will play one round each day. The team and individual medalist winners will receive an automatic bid to the NCAA Championships.
Chen became the ninth player in program history to win a BIG EAST title and the second-straight under Phil Wildermuth, who guided Jack Simon to a playoff victory in 2023. In team competition, the Johnnies have won 10 BIG EAST Championships with the last coming in 2014. The Red Storm also carried the conference crown in 1979 and won eight straight titles from 1981-89.
The Red Storm line-up in South Carolina will feature- Chen, Joseph Dolezal, David Mlynek, Frank Wu and Brandon Sperling. Tee times will begin on Saturday morning at 8 a.m.
Championship coverage will be livestreamed for free on GolfKast TV. The golf-based streaming service will provide 16 cameras on select holes with announcer Johnny Gadamowitz on the 18th green. In its last time out, St. John's recorded an eighth place finish at the Robert Kepler Intercollegiate hosted by Ohio State on April 18-19. Chen logged his sixth top-three finish in his ninth stroke play tournament of the season shooting 2-over at Ohio State Golf Club Scarlet Course.
The senior has been on fire this year with three individual titles and his six top-3 finishes tie for first in NCAA Division I. The Beijing, China native holds a 649-49-9 record against all opponents and a stroke average of 70.9.
