St. John’s Finishes Third at ECU Intercollegiate

The Red Storm has recorded fifth top-three finishes in its last seven events
GREENVILLE, N.C.- The St. John's men's golf team placed third at the ECU Intercollegiate in a 15-team field on Tuesday at Brook Valley Country Club. It marked the Red Storm's fifth top-three finish in its last seven events, dating back to the fall season.
St. John's carded a 21-over, 885, over 54 holes of action in Greenville, N.C. In Tuesday's final round battling through windy conditions, the Johnnies registered an 8-over, 296, one stroke shy of the lowest team score in the final round.
UNC-Wilmington won the team title logging 4-over, 868, at Brook Valley. The Seahawks' Grant Mitchum took home medalist honors posting a three-round score of 3-under, 213, the lone player in the field to finish under par.
Joseph Dolezal continued his strong play recording his second top-five finish over the last three events. The sophomore shot a 3-over, 219. Matthew DiFiore was the second Red Storm golfer to place inside the top-10 on the leaderboard. The Malverne, N.Y., product carded a 4-over, 220.
In Tuesday's final round, Eli Weidmann guided the Johnnies posting a team-low third round score of even par, 72. The rookie soared 27 spots up the leaderboard to finish in 29th place with an 11-over, 227, for the tournament.
St. John's will return to action on April 5-6 at the Augusta Haskins Award Invitational to compete against the nation's best. Following the final round at Forest Hills Golf Club, the participants will attend a practice round at the 2026 edition of The Masters.
