Peicheng Chen Qualifies for NCAA Regionals for Second Straight Year

Chen will compete in Amherst Regional at Poplar Grove Club in Virginia
QUEENS, N.Y.- For the second straight year, Peicheng Chen has qualified for the NCAA Division I Men's Golf Championships and will compete in the Amherst Regional at Poplar Grove Golf Club on May 12-14.Â

Chen earned an at-large bid as an individual competitor during Wednesday's selection show. The senior was one of 10 individuals selected to compete in the regional alongside 13 teams. Across the country, there are 45 individuals and 81 teams that qualified for the NCAA Championships. The top-30 teams and the top individual not on those team from each regional will compete for a national title at Omni La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad, Calif. on May 23-28.  Â

The standout becomes the first St. John's player to appear in multiple NCAA Regionals since PGA Tour Professional and U.S. Ryder Cup Captain Keegan Bradley. After winning the BIG EAST Championship last year, Chen went onto compete in the NCAA Austin Regional at University of Texas Golf Club.Â

Chen's second consecutive NCAA Regional appearance marks the third straight year a St. John's player has qualified for the national stage, all under the first three years of Head Coach Phil  Wildermuth's tenure.Â

Chen put together one of the best seasons in program history in 2024-25 logging seven top-three finishes including three individual championships in 10 stroke play events. The Beijing, China native recorded an overall record of 698-51-9 this season and a stroke average of 70.7.Â
