St. John’s Sits in Third Place at Gulf Coast Collegiate Classic

Max McColgan checks in at fourth place
NEW ORLEANS- The St. John's men's golf team sits in third place after the opening two rounds at the Gulf Coast Collegiate Classic in New Orleans.
The Red Storm battled through windy conditions all day to place top-three in the 15-team field at English Turn Golf and Country Club. The Johnnies shot 46-over, 622, over 36 holes on Monday. The Johnnies turned back-to-back rounds of 23-over-, 311.
St. John's has four players inside the top-30 in the 80-golfer field and posted a 4.38 stroke average on par-4's, which ranks second place in the tournament field.
Max McColgan registered an 8-over, 152, on opening day to take sole possession of fourth place, two shots off the tournament lead. The rookie finished with a 5-over, 77, on the first 18 holes and a 3-over, 75, during the second round.
Joseph Dolezal and Matthew DiFiore check in at 16th place after both logging a 12-over, 156, in Louisiana. DiFiore recorded an eagle on the second hole par-5 on Monday afternoon, one of three amongst the tournament field.
Eli Weidmann took 28th place after tallying a 14-over, 158, on Monday. The Murphys, Calif., native paced the squad in round one shooting a 3-over, 75.
The final round from English Turn will tee of tomorrow morning with live results available on SCOREBOARD.
