Antonio Biggs Named to Preseason All-BIG EAST Team

St. John’s was picked third in the East Division in the Preseason Coaches’ poll
NEW YORK – St. John's men's soccer graduate student defender Antonio Biggs was named to the Preseason All-BIG EAST Team and the Red Storm were picked third in the East Division as voted on by the league's coaches and the conference announced on Tuesday morning.
Biggs, a team captain and the leader of the Red Storm backline was one of 11 players selected from across the conference's 12 teams, he earns the honor for the first time in his collegiate career. The Kingston, Jamaica has started in 32 of 33 appearances and averaged 86.4 minutes per game during his two seasons in Queens.
After winning the Co-BIG EAST East Division title in 2024, St. John's was picked to finish third in the six-team division accumulating 45 points in the preseason poll. Georgetown was predicted as the preseason divisional favorites (65 points) followed by Providence (56 points). UConn (34 points), Seton Hall (30 points) and Villanova (16 points) rounded out the East Division. With nine tournament titles and its seventh regular season crown in 2024, the Johnnies' and Georgetown are tied for the most BIG EAST Championships in league history with 16 total.
Biggs played an integral role in last year's title run, starting in 16 of his 17 appearances and playing a full 90 minutes in 14 contests. The defender played an integral role in five Red Storm shutouts while tallying a goal and an assist. The senior was tabbed BIG EAST Defender of the Week on Oct. 28, 2024, after netting the equalizer in a pivotal conference matchup against UConn two days prior.
Prior to his arrival in Queens, Biggs spent two seasons at Tyler Junior College in Texas from 2021-23, where he was a two-time NJCAA All-American leading the Apache to a Gulf South Regional title and an NJCAA Division I Quarterfinal appearance.
Biggs and the Johnnies will open the 2025 campaign on Thursday night when they travel to the City of Brotherly Love to face Temple at 7 p.m. on ESPN+.
