The Red Storm were picked fourth in the Preseason Poll
NEW YORK – St. John's women's basketball senior guard Brooke Moore and junior forward Sa'Mya Wyatt were named to the Preseason All-BIG EAST Team, the conference office announced on Thursday morning.
The Red Storm were picked fourth in the preseason coaches' poll, which was announced prior to the league's annual media day held at the Marriott Marquis.
Moore returns for her senior season after collecting All-BIG EAST Second Team and All-Met Second Team honors in 2025-26. The Kennesaw, Ga., native led the Red Storm in scoring at 11.7 points per game while shooting 50.7% from the field in 34 appearances, 31 of which were starts.
The guard reached double figures 22 times, including five 20-point performances, while adding 4.6 rebounds and 1.1 blocks per contest. Moore also registered three double-doubles and poured in a career-high 25 points against Georgia Tech on Nov. 28, helping her earn BIG EAST Player of the Week honors on Dec. 1 in addition to three appearances on the league's Weekly Honor Roll.
Wyatt enters her junior campaign following an All-BIG EAST Honorable Mention and All-Met Third Team season in 2025-26. The Powder Springs, Ga., native started all 34 contests for the Red Storm and averaged 10.9 points per game on 50.7% shooting from the field.
The forward scored in double figures 18 times with four 20-point outings, highlighted by a career-high 28 points on 10-of-15 shooting in a 66-64 road victory at Xavier on Jan. 17. The junior later tallied 16 points and 12 rebounds against the Musketeers in the BIG EAST Tournament First Round for her third career double-double and earned BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll recognition three times during the season.
Both Moore and Wyatt return a wealth of experience entering their second seasons in Queens.
UConn was the unanimous preseason favorite in the league's coaches' poll, led by BIG EAST Preseason Player of the Year Sarah Strong and Preseason Freshman of the Year Olivia Vukosa. Villanova came in second with one first-place vote and 90 points, as the Wildcats are set to return four starters. Creighton followed in third with 78 points and the Johnnies were close behind with 68 points. Seton Hall (67 pts.), Marquette (60 pts.), Providence (38 pts.) and Georgetown (36 pts.) made up the middle portion of the poll while Xavier (29 pts.), Butler (21 pts.) and DePaul (18 pts.) rounded it out.
Entering his 15th season at the helm of the Red Storm, Joe Tartamella and his team will begin the 2026-27 campaign on Nov. 2 when they host Lafayette inside Carnesecca Arena.
