Red Storm women’s basketball will appear on terrestrial radio for the first time in program history
QUEENS, N.Y. – The St. John's women's basketball program will make its terrestrial radio debut as its regular season finale against No. 1/1 UConn at Madison Square Garden will air on 880 AM ESPN New York.
The Johnnies will take on the 12-time National Champion Huskies in the program's first-ever standalone game at The World's Most Famous Arena on March 1 for a 7:30 p.m. tip-off. One of the most influential and widely listened to radio networks across the nation, ESPN New York will broadcast Sunday's game on the dial. The audio broadcast presented by the LEARFIELD St. John's Radio Network will additionally be available on the ESPN New York and Varsity Network apps
"We're ecstatic to continue our partnership with ESPN New York and showcase our women's basketball program on one of the brightest stages in sports radio," said Vice President and Director of Athletics Ed Kull. "Having St. John's first-ever women's college basketball radio broadcast on ESPN New York presents another incredible opportunity to elevate our program."
New York Knicks radio personality Pat O' Keefe and BIG EAST women's basketball broadcaster Maria Marino will have the radio call from midtown Manhattan. The game will air on national television as JB Long, Christy Winters-Scott and Autumn Johnson will have the call on TNT.
The Red Storm will play at MSG for the third-straight year and the 19th time in its history. The Johnnies hold an 11-7 mark at The Mecca and a 5-2 record under Head Coach Joe Tartamella.
